This recipe is not only as simple as it is delicious, you can easily double it when treating the masses. (The original recipe makes nine 2.5 inch squares)
Double-Chocolate Brownies
Preheat oven at 350 degrees
Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment, allowing it to hang over the sides. (This will make for easy clean up!)
Melt until smooth: (in double boiler or heatproof bowl over simmering water):
1 stick unsalted butter, cut into large pieces
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
Remove from heat
Measure:
1 1/2 cups sugar.
Add
3 eggs, one at a time, until combined.
Combine
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Fold until fully incorporated (no powder remains)
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, sifted
Pour batter into pan and bake about 35 to 40 minutes.
Cool slightly in pan, about 15 minutes. Using the parchment paper, lift the brownies from the pan and place on wire rack. Let cool completely. Cut into 9 squares, or desired amount.
BEHIND THE APRON TIP: To make them extra special, sprinkle powdered sugar on top.... either all over, or use a stencil and make a festive design! (OR simply add walnuts! Make it your own!!)
